Evening - 12 Hour (United States of America)

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Technical Manager and upon request of the physician, performs the activities of a Respiratory Therapist in therapy procedures. Sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness.

Essential Functions

  • Performs therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide adequate appropriate care to any age-related needs of the patients served on the unit, to include, knowledge of the principles of growth and development and ability to assess and interpret data regarding the patient’s status to identity the patient’s needs and appropriate care, including care needed by the infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient groups.
  • Maintains accurate department and patient records. Always initiates a file for each patient receiving service and updates accordingly. 
  • Participates in the quality Review and Infection Control programs.
  • Gives treatments and uses equipment in accordance with the Quality Control of the Department
  • Maintains adequate inventory of all equipment and supplies.  Ensures non-functioning or broken equipment is separated for maintenance and repair. 
  • Participates in equipment decontamination and reprocessing activities.
  • Responds to emergency codes as designated.
  • Assists others in the completion of all department work assignments as needed
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions

Job Qualifications

Education   

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • Minimum (2) two years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must be a California Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Practitioner (NRP) Certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing across all levels of the hospital
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Promote inquiry and practice based on evidence by using research based knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards in relation to quality and safety management.
  • Strong customer service skills

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $47.71 - $64.96 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
